Oxford holds European summer school

The 14th Annual Oxford-European Summer School has been organised by the Oxford International Wound Healing Foundation.

This year's course takes place from 4-7 August, 2010 at St. Anne's College, Oxford University and the theme is Wound Healing: Old Problems, New Solutions.

Topics to be covered include:

• Latest assessments, treatments and management guidelines for leg ulcers
• Diabetic wounds
• Pressure ulcers
• Practical management of fungating wounds
• Acute and chronic wounds
• Management of pain
• Surrounding skin conditions associated with different types of wounds
• Topical negative pressure for different types of wounds based on clinical evidence and experience
• Wound bed preparation
• Treatment and management of lymphoedema
• Nutritional aspects of wound healing
• Hands-on interactive clinical workshops
• Patient demonstrations.

WHASA UBUNTU Conference – A global wound healing initiative

The Wound Healing Association of Southern Africa have announced details of their UBUNTU Conference, to be held on 5-8 September, 2010 at Cape Town, South Africa. The theme for this conference is 'Uncovering the hidden wound'.

The programme is focused on assessing the scope of wound care issues in economically challenged countries. Topics will include:

• Uncovering the hidden wound
• Lymphoedema and leg ulcer management
• Diabetic foot management
• Vascular management
• Buruli ulcers
• Limb loss
• Tropical conditions
• Conditions of neglect
• Wounds related to TB and HIV.

Keynote speakers will include Dr Kinsley Asiedu (WHO), Dr John McDonald (WAWLC), Prof Christine Moffatt (ILF), Prof Alan Widgerow and many others.
