Tornado-stricken area receives wound care donationThe recent tornado that struck the state of Missouri, US, has sparked a need for wound care equipment in several areas, and companies have begun donating equipment for wound treatment and pressure ulcer prevention.

In one of the hardest hit areas, Joplin, Missouri, Kinetic Concepts Inc. (KCI) is donating hospital beds, mattresses and V.A.C. Therapy negative pressure wound healing devices, alongside Skin IQTM Microclimate Manager coverlets which will aid against pressure ulcers. They are also sponsoring a mobile clinic nearby and have delivered food and water to hospital workers, patients and their families.

 

'Access to the right medical supplies, most of which were damaged or lost during the storm, is key when helping heal the people we care for,' says Dr Robert Dodson, trauma director, St John's Regional Medical Centre in Joplin. 'KCI's generosity is allowing us to continue providing our patients with the highest level of care under difficult circumstances.'
