Indian Society of Wound Management
The Indian Society of Wound Management was established in 1998.
The society has the following aims and objectives. To:
- Encourage and advance the study and practice of the science and art of wound management
- Promote social interaction among the workers in the field from India and abroad
- Encourage scientific research and experimental work on wound healing and management
- Organise scientific programmes, such as conferences, workshops, and so on
- Provide continuing education programmes for postgraduate students and paramedical workers in the field of wound management
- Establish and maintain reference libraries of books, magazines, newspapers, audiovisual materials and so on, relating to wound management
- Publish a journal devoted to wound management. The journal, shall be the official organ of Indian Society of Wound Management and will be distributed free of charge
- Encourage interaction with industry for improvement and innovation in woundcare products.
Over the years the society has worked hard to meet these objectives. The society currently boasts around 140 life members. An annual conference 'WOUNDCON' has taken place since the inception of the society. The latest conference was held at Sikkim Manipal.
In the past two years, there have been a number of positive changes in the society, under the leadership of Professor Chintamani, the current president. He has overseen the establishment of the society's website, which serves as a portal for the dissemination of work on wound healing. He also holds regular seminars and workshops in the field of wound management for postgraduate students.
