American Diabetes Association Interest Group on Foot Care

The purpose of the American Diabetes Association Interest Group on Foot Care is to develop national standards for foot care.

Activities

The association develops educational programmes in footcare management and prevention for healthcare professionals and individuals with diabetes. We promote clinical and scientific research into the aetiology and pathogenesis of diabetic foot disease.

The group is also concerned with increasing public awareness of the spectrum and frequency of foot problems associated with diabetes. Another important aim is to promote the collection of accurate data on amputations and diabetes.

We also work to promote national and international collaboration between agencies concerned with diabetes research and educational programmes geared towards prevention.
